When the costs of looking after drunken people is compared for different countries I bet that in the UK we spend more on having to look after binge drinkers than most other places in the world. It doesn’t matter whether you look at hospitals in Greece, France, health in Spain or any other western European country the UK spends far too much on those who abuse alcohol, mainly young people. A think tank report has suggested that people who are admitted to the A&E hospital departments through drinking too much alcohol should be forced to pay for it themselves, around £550 was mentioned. What a great idea, why should the National Health Service have to pay when it results in less money to go round for other parts of the health service?
