Francis Maude, the current Minister for the Cabinet Office as well as Paymaster General, has appointed Stephen Allot to review the procurement processes deployed by Whitehall in an attempt to cut through red tape and enable smaller and medium sized procurement companies to vie for the kind of deals that previously only the biggest and most established companies could win.  The intention is that, in the long run, this will enable much fairer competition and could open up the industry, leading to large growth as firms are not forced to jump through pointless hoops.  Eventually, if these changes do lead to growth, we can expect to see growth filter through the industry, through to the likes of procurement recruitment agencies.
