In 1944, the civilian population could get their hands on the first Jeep. This vehicle was called the CJ-2. This vehicle was available from 1944 to 1945 until other prototypes of it were starting to be created. The older jeeps that you will see, often still had the look of a military utility Jeep vehicle. As time went on, consumers wanted to have the same great function that this vehicle gave to them, but they wanted it to look more like a car that you would find on the regular road instead of the bad roads. More of these vehicles were created to give the consumer what they wanted, which led to such jeeps as the ever popular Wrangler.
